Jeffrey Herlings – It feels great to win again

Jeffrey Herlings of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has claimed his second consecutive Grand Prix victory. During the Grand Prix of Latvia, Herlings won the qualifying heat as well as both motos, securing the 109th Grand Prix win of his career. MXGP changed country, track, and surface for the first Grand Prix to open the second half of the 2025 season. The series moved from Germany to Latvia, from the tight and undulating layout of Talkessel to the more open and flatter terrain of Kegums, and from rough hardpack to loose, sandy bumps. The weather remained unpredictable following sun and showers in Germany. In Kegums, Saturday was mostly sunny and warm, once again featuring a full European racing program. Herlings immediately felt good on Saturday. He had no trouble putting in a fast lap and ended up topping the time sheets. In the qualifying heat, he grabbed the holeshot and rode a controlled race. Despite pressure from Lucas Coenen, Herlings kept his composure and secured pole position. The skies remained mostly blue on Sunday, while the race action was painted orange. Herlings had a strong start in the first moto, building a gap from the opening lap. He managed the race and led Lucas Coenen to the finish with less than two seconds between them – but nearly a minute ahead of the rest of the field. The second moto was a repeat: this time Coenen took the holeshot, but Herlings quickly moved into the lead. He steadily built his advantage and went on to claim his first 1-1 of the season, his second GP win in a row, and the 109th of his career. The full 60-point haul moves him up to 9th in the championship standings. France, Germany, and now Latvia: MXGP has earned a break and will cool the engines before the British Grand Prix at Matterley Basin in England on June 21–22. Jeffrey Herlings:“Really good! Let’s repeat this nine more times! I’m really thankful. Lucas and Romain [Febvre] were pushing hard so I have to give it up to them. I knew it wouldn’t be easy but it’s great to win again – I got a 1-1 last year and to have another; I’m pleased with that. Let’s keep this ball rolling. I know it won’t be easy but we’ll do what we can.”

Jeffrey Herlings Wins in Germany

Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team claimed victory at the Grand Prix of Germany on Sunday. After finishing second in the first moto, Herlings came out on top in a thrilling battle with Lucas Coenen in moto two, securing his 108th career Grand Prix win. Talkessel, Teutschenthal – one of the oldest and most established venues on the MXGP calendar – has hosted races since the mid-1970s and has been a near-permanent fixture in the world championship since the start of the century. On Saturday, Herlings already showed he was comfortable on the German circuit. He set the fastest time in time practice and battled for the win in the qualifying heat. Herlings put race leader Lucas Coenen under serious pressure but ultimately had to settle for second place. In Sunday’s first moto, Herlings once again fought Coenen for the lead. He looked for opportunities to pass but Coenen kept his cool, forcing Herlings to take another second-place finish. Conditions were completely different in moto two. Heavy rain had turned the circuit muddy and deep ruts had formed. A strong start brought Herlings up to third place early on. He saved his goggles during the opening laps and gradually closed the gap to Romain Febvre and Lucas Coenen. After passing Febvre, Herlings set his sights on Coenen. With just a few laps to go, he made his move using a clever line that no one else had spotted and took the lead. He didn’t look back and rode to victory. Jeffrey Herlings’ post-race comments:“There have been a lot of ups and downs, but to win today was amazing. Obviously, the competition is strong and the track was really tricky. In the first moto I battled with Lucas and I have so much respect for him – just 18 years old and handling that kind of pressure every week without making mistakes. In the second moto, we had the mud, so I saved my goggles early on and waited for the lapped riders. I managed to pass Romain and then Lucas using a line nobody else had seen. It’s fantastic to come back and win again. Hats off to the competition. I feel like I’m getting closer to their level again and I just want to be up there every weekend. I want to get as many podiums and wins as I can.” This win marks Herlings’ 108th Grand Prix victory, and he now climbs to tenth in the world championship standings. Jeffrey Herlings Just Misses Podium Finish in MXGP of France

Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM Factory team came close to securing a podium finish during the ninth round of the MXGP World Championship in Ernee, France. After a poor start in Saturday’s qualifying, Herlings managed to secure tenth position for the main races. In the first moto, he got off to a great start and immediately moved into second place. In the first half of the race, he applied pressure on the race leader but later eased off slightly due to arm pump. As a result, Herlings lost second place and crossed the finish line in a solid third. His start in the second moto was less favorable, coming out of the first lap in eighth place. Early on, he worked his way up to seventh before a small crash dropped him back to tenth. Herlings mounted a strong comeback, particularly in the latter half of the race, climbing up to fifth and launching an attack on the rider in fourth. He just missed making the pass and had to settle for fifth place. Jeffrey Herlings’ Comments:“It’s quite disappointing to have the same number of points as the third-placed rider and still not make the podium. In the first moto, I battled for the lead for a long time and finished third. I backed off a bit because of arm pump. In the second moto, my start wasn’t great, and I had a small crash. I just missed passing the rider in fourth—if I had made it, I would’ve been third overall. I was really close. P4 overall today, and still a good step forward. ”With moto results of 3-5, Herlings ended the day in fourth place overall. He now sits eleventh in the World Championship standings. The championship continues next weekend in Teutschenthal, Germany.

Jeffrey Herlings Achieves Best MXGP Result of the Season in Galicia

Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM Factory team achieved his best result of the season during the Grand Prix of Galicia. Herlings finished seventh and sixth in the motos, securing sixth place overall in the day’s standings. Saturday remained dry for a long time, resulting in a fast circuit. The time gaps between the riders were minimal. During time practice, Herlings went out several times in an attempt to set a fast lap and eventually clocked the tenth-fastest time. Later in the day, he qualified eighth in the qualifying heat. Heavy rain during the night from Saturday to Sunday turned the track into a muddy mess. In both the first and second motos, Herlings had poor starts. Despite the difficult conditions for overtaking, he managed to gain several positions and crossed the finish line in seventh and sixth place, respectively. These results earned him sixth place overall for the Grand Prix. Jeffrey Herlings commented: “It’s getting better and better. P6 — the next step is P5 and then the podium. The weather didn’t help today. We’ve had a lot of bad luck with mud over the last two rounds. I’m already looking forward to the next Grand Prix. I’m excited. This wasn’t a great Grand Prix, but it wasn’t a bad one either, considering we’re racing against the best riders in the world. Looking at where I’m coming from, this is okay. We need to improve our starts to gain more confidence, and then things will get better right away.” This upcoming Sunday, Herlings will compete in the final round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Markelo. One week later, the next Grand Prix will take place in Ernee, France.

Jeffrey Herlings Goes Deep in MXGP of Portugal

Jeffrey Herlings of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing pushed through during the seventh round of the MXGP World Championship in Agueda, Portugal. Herlings crashed during the qualifying heat on Saturday and was subsequently run over. As a result, he suffered bruised ribs and a painful elbow. Despite this, he still raced in the motos, finishing 10th and 7th in the heats, ultimately securing 9th place in the overall results. At the beginning of Saturday, the Agueda track was in good condition, but after heavy rain arrived in the early afternoon, the track turned into a huge mud pit. Herlings set the third-fastest time in the timed practice and started strong in the qualifying heat. He rode in second place for several laps, but just as he was about to make a move, he crashed. Herlings quickly got up but was then hit by another rider. This caused bruised ribs and a painful elbow. Despite this, he managed to finish the heat in 7th place. The conditions on Sunday were even worse than Saturday. The rain continued intermittently, making survival in the motos the primary goal. In the first moto, Herlings didn’t get a good start and was also struggling with pain from his ribs. Despite this, he fought hard and finished 10th. In the second moto, he fought his way to 6th place in the final stages, but a mistake cost him the position, and he ultimately finished 7th. Commentary from Jeffrey Herlings:“Yesterday, we were feeling hopeful until the crash in the heat. I was hit by another rider and bruised my ribs and got a painful elbow. Today, I had a lot of pain in my ribs, and I could feel every bump on the track. It was frustrating! We finished 10th and 7th, which isn’t what we were hoping for at this GP. But considering what happened on Saturday, I’m okay with it. I’ll definitely be 100% fit for the next race and hope to be closer to the top five.” Next weekend, the World Championship continues in Lugo, Spain.

Jeffrey Herlings Comes Close to a top 3 podium finish at MXGP of Switzerland

Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team came close to a top-three finish during the sixth round of the MXGP World Championship, held in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. After a poor start in the first moto, Herlings struggled to move forward and had to settle for 14th place. In the second moto, he held third position until the final lap, when he collided with a lapped rider and ultimately finished fourth. For Herlings, this was only his third major race since returning to competition. He is steadily building form and his rhythm is improving week by week. This progress was already visible on Saturday, as he posted an impressive fourth-fastest time in the time practice. He also performed well in the qualifying heat, starting inside the top three and holding fourth place for much of the race. However, due to severe arm pump, he couldn’t push at full speed and lost a few positions in the closing stages, finishing seventh. The races in Switzerland were held on Monday. In the first moto, Herlings got off to a poor start. The Frauenfeld track made overtaking difficult, and despite fighting all the way to the checkered flag, he could do no better than 14th. The second moto told a different story. This time, Herlings had a good start and was part of the front-running group from the beginning. He held third place for a long time, but contact with a lapped rider in the final lap cost him third place and dropped him to fourth. Jeffrey Herlings commented:“Overall, it was a pretty good weekend. I had a terrible start in the first moto and it was tough to pass on this track, so I couldn’t really make up ground. The second start was much better, and I was able to hold third place for a long time. It’s a shame I came into contact with a lapped rider, otherwise I could’ve finished third. It’s only my fourth week back on the bike, and things are going well. Of course, we want more than a seventh place, but the other riders have more races under their belts already. Portugal has always been a tricky track for me, but we’re working hard every week to keep improving. The goal is to find more race rhythm and hopefully break into the top five there.” With a 14-4 moto score, Herlings secured seventh place overall in the day’s classification. His next race will be this Saturday during the second round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross in Oldebroek. Jeffrey Herlings Makes Progress in MXGP of Trentino

Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM Factory team is back in the top ten. During the fifth round of the MXGP World Championship in Arco di Trento, Italy, Herlings finished tenth and eleventh in the motos, earning him ninth overall in the day’s standings. The goal was once again to gain as much rhythm and speed as possible. On Saturday, he steadily built up his pace. He posted the 17th fastest time in time practice and finished 22nd in the qualifying race. Naturally, Herlings was determined to improve in Sunday’s motos. Rain had fallen on Sunday morning, which resulted in more lines forming on the track. Herlings rode a consistent first moto and crossed the finish line in tenth place. In the second moto, he spent a long time inside the top ten, but due to a lack of race rhythm, he struggled in the final phase and had to give up a few positions, finishing eleventh. Jeffrey Herlings commented: “Not bad for an old guy who’s only been back on the bike a few times. We’ll keep working and build from here. We’ll see what we can do in Switzerland. I want to give my best every weekend.” Next weekend, the next Grand Prix will take place in Frauenfeld, Switzerland.

Jeffrey Herlings starts building at the MXGP of Sardinia

Jeffrey Herlings from the Red Bull KTM Factory team made a positive start to his return to the World Championship. Herlings struggled with arm pump in the first moto and had to settle for 20th place. In the second moto, he showed his potential by leading a few laps and eventually finishing in 7th place. After the Spanish/French Grand Prix double, MXGP had a week to recuperate before Italian back-to-back fixtures with distinct flavors. First-up for Red Bull KTM was the Grand Prix of Sardinia around the compact, sandy course on the island that serves as a popular off-season training site. In contrast to Cozar and St Jean D’Angely in recent weeks, the climate was stable on the western tip of the Sardinian territory. Red Bull KTM welcomed all-time record wins holder Jeffrey Herlings back in the awning for the Dutchman’s return to world championship competition and where he steers the KTM 450 SX-F for the eighth consecutive season. Herlings didn’t get the best start in the first moto and weathered arm-pump to ride to 20th. Herlings had a decent getaway in the second moto and led the first three laps of 18 before guiding the #84 KTM across the line in 7th; a result earned with less than a week of saddle time after a six-month lay-off. The Italian theme for MXGP continues this week as the series moves to the mainland and to the north for the Grand Prix of Trentino. The hardpacked Pietramurata circuit in Arco di Trento and close to Lake Garda will stage round five of the championship! Jeffrey Herlings, 20th and 7th for 15th overall in MXGP: “We decided at the last minute to come to this race and use it as the best practice. Yes, a P20 can hurt but…I think it was just my sixth day on the bike after six months. So, for the circumstances I think it was quite good today. It was the first time I’d done a 35-minute moto! We got some points and finishing 7th in the second moto was quite good. Now just to build and get better every single week. Step-by-step now.” Results MXGP Sardinia 2025

Jeffrey Herlings eyeing rapid 2025 MXGP return

The five-times world champion and most successful Grand Prix winner in FIM Motocross World Championship history is coming closer to his goal of being able to ride, test and get back into MXGP shape for 2025. 30-year-old Herlings underwent an operation to fix the right knee injury, which he sustained in the sand of Valkenswaard in October 2024 and after a strong campaign in which he completed the 20-round season with 3rd in the standings and with 4 GP wins and 15 podium finishes. Since the medical procedure the Dutchman (Red Bull KTM’s longest serving racer after joining the factory MXGP team in 2010) has been following the rehab steps and is now just a few weeks away from being able to ride his 2025 KTM 450 SX-F. Herlings will not be able to join the rest of his team for the season-opening Grand Prix of Argentina on 2-3 March but will then assess his pace and progress until he is ready to enter the MXGP start gate once more for his eighth attempt at the class and his sixteenth year as a world championship athlete. Jeffrey Herlings: “We’re looking good. I can do everything aside from ride the bike. I can cycle, swim, cross train – and it should only be a few weeks until we are back to the normal plan. 2024 wasn’t a great season but it was decent; we’d made a lot of races, came close to the MXGP championship, won a few GPs and had something like 15 podiums at the end. I wanted to be strong coming into this year so having this setback was not good but what I can hope for now is a successful second part of the championship. It was a weird injury because there was not much pain after surgery but it takes time to recover. I want to ride as soon as possible and join the rest of my Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team… but we just need to wait a little longer. I really want to race again.” PRESS CONTACT Sarah GreilingerPR Manager OFFROADMotorsportsSarah.Greilinger@ktm.com+43 676 5030588

Herlings completes 2024 MXGP Campaign with valued bronze medal after 3rd overall in Spanish season closer

Jeffrey Herlings signed off a full and successful 2024 FIM Motocross World Championship season with 3rd position at the Grand Prix of Castilla la Mancha today in Cozar. The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing man lifted his fifteenth trophy of a year in which he was one of three riders battling for the title in the 20th and final round of the term. He was P1 in the 40th and final moto. The third Grand Prix on Spanish soil this season brought MXGP to a new venue; Cozar in Cuidad Real and the southern center of the country. The teams had taken one week to breathe and recover from the journey back to Europe after an eventful Grand Prix of China and travelled to the hardpack and slick circuit eager for discovery and to wrap the MXGP and MX2 championships. On Saturday Herlings raced to 2nd in the last RAM Qualification Heat and confirmed the second pick of slots in the start gate for Sunday. Sunday started hot and the temperatures increased as a decent crowd travelled to Cozar anticipating title fights in both classes. Herlings was pushed wide in the first corner of the opening moto and exited the track. He reentered the course after the first jump and was later penalized three positions, dropping from a charge to 3rd on track to 6th. In the second moto Herlings made a great start in 2nd place and through dusty conditions passed world champion Jorge Prado to take the checkered flag. Jeffrey Herlings, 6th and 1st for 3rd overall in MXGP: “I don’t agree to have been docked three positions in the first moto. It hurts a little bit. Overall it’s been a positive championship. It could have been better for the final result if my starts were there but that’s also something I have work on. Congratulations to Jorge. He was the best and he deserves it this year.” Results MXGP Castilla la Mancha 2024 1. Jorge Prado (ESP), GASGAS, 1-4 2. Tim Gajser (SLO), Honda, 2-3 3.
