Jeffrey Herlings In Supreme Form At Dutch Masters at Oldebroek
Jeffrey Herlings of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team won both heats of the second round of the Dutch Masters of Motocross at Oldebroek. He claimed victory with substantial margins in both instances.
After his dominant performance at Markelo, Herlings was the championship leader going into the event. Markelo is special in that it is only used for a single or maximum a few events per year. The volunteer club members worked hard to ensure a perfectly prepared track and were rewarded with large spectator numbers.
After a medium start in race one, Jeffrey had to fight his way forward from outside the top ten. He was fifth after two laps, and a few laps later he was ready to take over the lead from Romain Febvre. He went on to win by 30 seconds.
A better start in race two launched him into fourth. A scary moment followed when he and Shaun Simpson tangled in the air, fortunately without crashing. Febvre was again in the lead, and provided strong resistance, but after waiting for his opportunity, Herlings again took the lead and raced away.
After four perfect races, Jeffrey has maximum points and will defend the red plate at Mill in five weeks’ time. He will be in action at the next round of the MXGP world championship series at Trentino in Italy next weekend.
